Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday to receive an update on the ground situation and the ongoing operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.
Earlier on Monday evening four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, lost their lives in an encounter with terrorists in Doda district.
“Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to COAS General Upendra Dwivedi this morning. RM was apprised of the ground situation and the ongoing counter-terrorism operation in Doda by the Army Chief,” the Defence Ministry's office posted on X.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh also expressed deep concern over the armed encounter in the Dessa area of Doda district.
“I am deeply disturbed by the reports of an armed encounter in the Dessa area of district Doda in my Lok Sabha constituency. Words fall short of condoling and condemning the martyrdom of our brave hearts.
Let all of us join together to defeat the nefarious designs of the enemy and maintain the peace and harmony for which Doda has always been known,” Singh posted on X.
There have been several terror attacks in Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
Notable incidents include a recent encounter in June, where security forces clashed with terrorists hiding in the forests of the Gandoh area.
This operation followed specific intelligence and resulted in injuries to security personnel.
Additionally, there have been attacks targeting joint checkposts, leading to casualties among security forces.
