The Chief of Army Staff (Army Chief), General Upendra Dwivedi, visited the forward posts of the Black Cat Division on Wednesday, and reviewed the operational readiness of the formation.
“He also witnessed a display of indigenous drones that are enhancing the surveillance and operational capabilities of the formation,” wrote the official account of the Indian Army on X.
Army Chief also met with the troops and lauded their exceptional professionalism and unwavering dedication while operating in one of the most challenging terrains, the post added.
The Black Cat Division commonly refers to the 17th Mountain Division of the Army, which has been given the duty to guard the Sikkim frontier. Historically, the name originated from the 17th Indian Infantry Division during World War II due to its emblem, a black cat.
