An Army jawan who was injured in a terrorist attack at the Army base camp in the Sunjuwan area of the Jammu region on Monday died later in the day during treatment, officials said.
The soldier was injured after suspected terrorists attacked the sentry post located outside the Army base camp.
Though he was quickly evacuated to hospital doctors could not save his life.
More troops have been rushed to the area to track down and neutralise the terrorists involved in the attack.
As per reports, terrorists used American-made M4 rifles to carry out the attack, suggesting that the soldier was shot from a stand-off distance from outside the base.
The presence of M4-Carbine has raised serious concerns among security establishments, as this NATO standard weapon is highly accurate and can fire from a long distance of 600 metres at 500-800 bullets per minute.
