Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday welcomed the appointment of former Civil Aviation Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the new Governor of Goa, saying the state government would work closely with him for the state’s development.
Sawant described Raju as a seasoned statesman with vast administrative and parliamentary experience.
Raju will replace P S Sreedharan Pillai, who took office in July 2021.
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday appointed Raju as Governor of Goa, according to an official communique.
In a post on X, Sawant said he, on behalf of the people of Goa, welcomed Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the Governor of the coastal state.
“A seasoned statesman with vast administrative and parliamentary experience, his guidance will be invaluable as we continue our journey towards Viksit Goa 2037,” Sawant said.
“We look forward to working closely with Hon’ble Governor Raju Ji to further the development and welfare of every Goan,” he added.
