Fadnavis discusses investment opportunities with WEF chief, Bawankule Confident of Economic boost to the State.

In a development following Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s meeting with Klaus Schwab, the founder and Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed his optimism about substantial investments coming to the state.

This follows the announcement of an agreement made for an investment of ₹5,500 crore for Gadchiroli, a tribal and Naxalite-affected district in Maharashtra.

Bawankule shared his expectations with the media, stating that in the coming days, Maharashtra will witness a surge in investments, particularly after the meeting held in Davos.

He conveyed that Chief Minister Fadnavis’s goal is to make Maharashtra the number one state in the country. The agreement for Gadchiroli, which is considered an inaccessible area due to its geographical and social challenges, marked a significant step towards that goal.

The Minister highlighted that such agreements would bring more employment opportunities for the state’s population.

He further added that the people of Maharashtra, numbering 14 crore, will benefit immensely from these developments.

Bawankule expressed his gratitude to Fadnavis for his efforts and stated, “I expect that in the next two to three days, a lot of investment will come to Maharashtra, and these agreements will bring a lot of strength to the state and its people.”

During his meeting with Schwab, Chief Minister Fadnavis discussed a variety of issues related to green energy, electric vehicles, and advancements in the industrial sector. Schwab also extended his good wishes for the continued growth of Maharashtra.

Fadnavis later spoke about the upcoming series of investment meetings, starting from Tuesday, as part of his broader engagement in Davos.

He noted, “Today (Monday) I started my day with a meeting with Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum. We discussed collaboration between Maharashtra and the WEF, and tomorrow we will have more meetings.”

This meeting with Schwab is part of Fadnavis’s wider agenda of engagements at Davos. Schwab had previously visited Mumbai during the Ganeshotsav celebrations earlier this year, where he and his wife participated in a traditional Ganesh aarti at Fadnavis’s official residence.

This visit marked the beginning of their ongoing discussions, which have continued at the WEF meeting in Davos.

Before his meeting with Schwab, Fadnavis also met Frank Jurgen Richter, the President of Horasys and a former WEF director. The two discussed the possibility of organising a global business conference in Mumbai and establishing Horasys’ headquarters in the city.

Their conversation focused on innovation, new technology, and Maharashtra’s emerging role as a hub for business and investment.

The WEF annual meeting, taking place from 20 to 24 January in Davos, serves as a crucial platform where leaders from government, business, and civil society come together to discuss global challenges and opportunities.
