Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in New Delhi and extended his best wishes for his new responsibilities, according to a post shared on social media.
The meeting comes amid a series of high-level engagements between senior central leaders and the newly formed state leadership following the recent political transition in West Bengal.
In a post on X, Shah said he met the “newly elected Chief Minister of BJP in West Bengal” and wished him success in his new role. He added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adhikari’s leadership, the state government would continue working for public welfare and good governance.
“Met with the newly elected Chief Minister of BJP in West Bengal, Shri @SuvenduWBji, and extended best wishes for his new responsibilities,” Shah wrote.

He further said that the state government, under the Prime Minister’s vision of development and Adhikari’s leadership, would remain committed to welfare-oriented governance and administrative reforms.
Suvendu Adhikari also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital earlier in the day. In his post, he described the interaction as his first official meeting with the Prime Minister after assuming office.
He said the discussions were “fruitful” and focused on development priorities for West Bengal, including infrastructure growth, industrial revival and youth employment generation.
Adhikari thanked the Prime Minister for his support and said the Centre had assured full assistance for the state’s development agenda. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to “double-engine growth”, combining central and state efforts to accelerate progress.
He said Modi reaffirmed his vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and stressed that West Bengal remains a priority state for the Centre.
According to statements shared by Adhikari, the discussions also covered governance reforms and long-term development strategies aimed at boosting investment and economic activity in the state.
