Bhuvnesh Kumar appointed new CEO of UIDAI on Jan 1.


Bhuvnesh Kumar has taken over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as of Wednesday. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1995 batch, he hails from the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

 

His appointment marks a significant milestone in his career, which has seen him hold a variety of important roles both at the Centre and in his home state of Uttar Pradesh.

 

Kumar, who graduated as a gold medalist from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has been actively involved in the government sector and has a reputation for managing key assignments.

 

In addition to his role as the CEO of UIDAI, he will continue his work as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

 

This dual responsibility further highlights the confidence placed in him to handle significant positions in both the central government and UIDAI.

 

Before his appointment to UIDAI, Bhuvnesh Kumar held several influential positions in various government departments.

 

His tenure as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology stands out, as does his role in Uttar Pradesh, where he served as the Principal Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries.

 

His leadership extended to critical departments, including Finance, MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), and Technical Education, where he made notable contributions.

 

Kumar's versatility in the administrative services is evident from his extensive experience in handling diverse portfolios.

 

He has served as the Secretary of several departments, including Finance and MSME, and has held leadership roles in the Department of Land Revenue, Sports and Youth Welfare, Planning, and Vocational Education in Uttar Pradesh.
