Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani declared on Wednesday that his party would not join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and instead expressed his support for Tejashwi Yadav as the next Chief Minister of Bihar.

During a media interaction, Sahani confirmed that he would be attending the upcoming Mahagathbandhan meeting and stated that seat-sharing arrangements would be finalised on 17 April, as discussed in a recent meeting with Tejashwi Yadav and senior leaders from the Congress party.

“There is no question of joining the NDA. The BJP has fractured my party and its leaders. Nitish Kumar is exhausted and is running the government with retired officials. Bihar needs youthful leadership to move the state forward,” Sahani said, making it clear that he was in favour of Tejashwi Yadav's leadership.

Sahani went on to reveal that his party was preparing to contest all 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections. He also suggested that Chirag Paswan should contest 50 seats, while former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi should aim for 20 to 25 seats. “Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi should contest 50 and 25 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections to ensure Dalit representation,” he stated.

The VIP leader also highlighted the strong support his party had among the Nishad community.

In a significant development for VIP, former IPS officer Muhammad Nurul Hoda joined the party on Wednesday. Hoda, a 1995-batch officer and former Railway IG, took voluntary retirement to enter politics.

A native of Sitamarhi, Hoda holds degrees in Chemistry and Law, and is fluent in Hindi, English, Urdu, Persian, and Arabic.

Hoda explained that his political journey was driven by the need to address the leadership crisis within Bihar's Muslim community. He further emphasised his focus on education, social reform, and countering divisive politics.

Hoda’s entry into VIP follows that of another prominent former IPS officer, Shivdeep Lande, who recently formed his own political party, Hind Sena, and announced his plans to contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
