BJP State President Virendra Sachdeva has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his government of deliberately settling illegal voters in Delhi ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

The allegations, made during a press briefing, suggest that this is a recurring issue aimed at influencing election outcomes.

Sachdeva criticised the Kejriwal government, claiming that this practice has been employed before every assembly election.

He cited examples to back his allegations, saying, "Arvind Kejriwal and his government are continuously settling illegal voters in Delhi. Today we showed six examples. This is a repeated pattern seen before every election.”

He further alleged that there has been a significant rise in the number of voters during past elections, which he believes points to fraudulent practices.

Sachdeva referred to the voter statistics, claiming that 14 lakh votes were added in 2015, followed by another 9 lakh in 2019. He argued that a similar plan is being executed in Delhi ahead of the upcoming elections.

The BJP leader vowed that his party would not allow such practices to continue. He stated that complaints have been raised with the Election Commission, and further action would be taken to ensure fair elections.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party will not let this conspiracy succeed. We have complained to the Election Commission, and we will do it again today,” Sachdeva said.

On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar countered the BJP's claims, shifting focus to the issue of Rohingya immigrants in India.

Kakkar held Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri accountable for the settlement of Rohingyas in various parts of the country, including Delhi.

Kakkar argued that if Rohingyas are residing in Delhi or elsewhere in India, the responsibility falls squarely on Shah and Puri. She added that the resources of Delhi should remain dedicated to its residents, emphasising that Rohingyas should not be allowed to access them.

The AAP spokesperson pointed to a 2022 tweet by Hardeep Singh Puri, where he allegedly mentioned settling Rohingyas in Delhi's Bakkarwala area.

“If there are Rohingyas in Delhi, Hardeep Singh Puri is responsible, as he publicly tweeted tagging PMO on 17 August 2022 about Rohingyas being settled in Bakkarwala,” Kakkar said.
