Delhi Election 2025 BJP Set for Major Win Over AAP.

After a long and intense election campaign, the people of Delhi cast their votes on Wednesday, deciding the fate of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.

The results, which will be announced on Saturday, have already ignited a wave of predictions, with a majority of exit polls pointing towards a strong win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The latest exit poll results, compiled, reveal that the BJP is likely to make a significant comeback in the national capital, winning between 42 and 51 seats out of the 70. If these projections hold, this will mark the first time since 1998 that the BJP has regained power in Delhi.

The BJP’s resurgence comes after years of dominance by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has held the reins of Delhi for the past decade.

Three prominent exit polls released on Thursday evening have all predicted a resounding victory for the BJP. According to Axis My India, the BJP is expected to secure between 45 and 55 seats, while CNX is even more optimistic, projecting between 49 and 61 seats for the party.

Meanwhile, Today’s Chanakya predicts that the BJP will win 51 seats, leaving AAP with just 19. On the other hand, AAP, which had hoped for a historic third consecutive term, is expected to secure a significantly reduced tally of 15 to 25 seats, with some polls suggesting as few as 10-19 seats.

While the BJP is predicted to secure a comfortable majority, the Congress party's prospects remain bleak. Most exit polls predict the Congress will secure just a single seat, continuing the party’s downward spiral in Delhi politics.

This is a sharp contrast to the expectations that arose ahead of the election when some believed that the Congress and AAP might form an alliance to challenge the BJP. However, such an alliance never materialised, and now, it seems unlikely that the Congress will make any significant headway in Delhi’s political landscape.

As per the updated poll data, the BJP is expected to win 42 seats, surpassing the required 36 for a majority in the 70-member Assembly. In comparison, AAP's tally is predicted to fall dramatically, with the party expected to win only 27 seats.

This would represent a major decline from the results in the 2015 and 2020 elections, where AAP had secured a commanding 67 and 62 seats, respectively.

Exit polls are, of course, not always accurate, and political parties are wise to approach them with caution. The AAP has repeatedly rejected the predictions, pointing out that similar exit poll results had underestimated their performance in both 2015 and 2020.

AAP leader Sushil Gupta emphasised that his party had been written off before, but under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, they had always defied the predictions and emerged victorious. He expressed confidence that AAP would form the government once again.

Some exit polls, however, have been more optimistic for AAP. For instance, WeePreside and Mind Brink have projected that AAP could secure between 46 and 52 seats and 44 and 49 seats, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Matrize exit poll placed the BJP in the lead with 35-40 seats, but gave AAP a competitive 32-37 seats.
