BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has made a shocking claim about the seizure of Rs 50 lakh in cash allegedly linked to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the political party led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. According to Dubey, the cash was hidden inside a tyre and was set to be used to influence the upcoming elections in Giridih, a region in Jharkhand.
Dubey posted a video on social media, showing a man in military attire cutting open a tyre, revealing bundles of cash stuffed inside. The footage also features a police officer and two other individuals.
Dubey’s caption to the video accused the JMM and Congress of attempting to manipulate the elections through illicit means. He claimed that this act of “jugaad,” or cheap innovation, was evidence of corruption in the region.
However, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has strongly denied these allegations. In a rebuttal, the party insisted that the arrested individuals were actually members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), not JMM workers as claimed by Dubey.
The JMM clarified that the men—Rajesh Choudhary, Shivam Anand, and Deepak Choudhary—were from Bihar and were allegedly transporting the money to BJP candidates. The party also pointed out that one of the men was supposed to deliver Rs 25 lakh to a BJP candidate from Deoghar.
In response, JMM questioned the BJP MP’s narrative, highlighting the discrepancy in the amount of money. While Dubey claimed that Rs 50 lakh had been seized, JMM questioned where the remaining Rs 25 lakh had gone.
The party further mocked the BJP’s claims, asserting that the Jharkhand police were closely monitoring the situation, and warned that if caution was not observed, it could lead to accidents.
This exchange between the BJP and JMM has added fuel to the already heated political atmosphere in Jharkhand as the state prepares for its upcoming assembly elections.
The first phase of voting, which took place on November 13, saw a 65 percent voter turnout across 43 constituencies. The second phase is scheduled for November 20, with the results to be counted on November 23.
