BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj began the year 2025 with prayers at the Jhandewalan Devi Temple in Delhi, expressing hopes for a BJP-led double-engine government in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.
The BJP leader extended warm New Year greetings and called for a government that would prioritise the city's progress and development.
Speaking to the public after her visit, Swaraj shared her aspirations for a transformative government in Delhi. She stated, “Happy New Year to everyone…I wish that such a government comes to power in Delhi that keeps Delhi on the path of progress. I am leaving after praying for BJP’s double-engine government.”
Delhi, which is gearing up for polls in early 2025, is expected to witness a heated contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP. Both parties have intensified their campaigns, with frequent exchanges of allegations against each other as they prepare for a crucial electoral battle.
As the nation ushered in the New Year, celebrations echoed across cities with festive energy and optimism. From cultural events to live music performances and themed parties, people marked the arrival of 2025 with enthusiasm.
Temples and churches across the country witnessed large gatherings, as devotees came together to pray for a prosperous year ahead.
In Delhi, the New Year’s morning began with traditional prayers and ‘aarti’ at prominent religious sites.
The famous Pracheen Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place, along with Jhandewalan, Kalkaji, Chhatarpur, and Birla Mandir temples, welcomed scores of devotees who participated in early morning rituals despite the cold weather.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his wishes for a successful and joyful year. Sharing his message on X, he encouraged citizens to focus on growth, opportunities, and collective well-being in 2025.
“Happy 2025! May this year bring everyone new opportunities, success, and endless joy. May everybody be blessed with wonderful health and prosperity,” PM Modi wrote.
