The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a crucial meeting today, July 21,  at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, to work out strategies for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Party bigwigs, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will be attending, are expected to review BJP's poor performance during the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections and work out how Maharashtra is to be won back again with a workable seat-sharing alliance with its partners, sources say.

News outlets said a political resolution is likely to be discussed at the meeting, which will have two sessions.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari will address the delegates at the end of the first session following which Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will talk about the party's outreach programmes for the youths, farmers and the middle-class, news outlets reported.

Earlier the BJP held a two-day core committee meeting in Mumbai to review all the 288 Assembly constituencies in the state.

It has also been learnt that the party will hold a meeting with the RSS next week for better coordination in the Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar of the NCP will meet with party workers in Pimpri-Chinchwad today, July 21. The development comes after many of his party's office-bearers  crossed over to the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar faction (NCP-SP), sources said.
