Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday became a political and social spectacle, with the Bharatiya Janata Party turning the occasion into a nationwide display of welfare drives, cultural events and service initiatives. From health camps and tree plantation drives to exhibitions, film screenings and financial incentives, BJP leaders and state governments sought to project the day as an extension of Modi’s “seva” politics.
In Madhya Pradesh, Modi laid the foundation stone for the Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Dhar district. He also launched the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ and the 8th ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ campaigns, both aimed at strengthening women’s health and nutrition.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda inaugurated the “Namo Van” in Haryana’s Rohtak, planting a sapling as part of the celebrations. Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled 17 public welfare projects in Delhi, including new hospital blocks, Ayushman Arogya Mandir clinics and quick-response vehicles for firefighting in congested neighbourhoods. Shah also inaugurated the Atal Asha nursing home and hostel in Narela, along with a financial assistance scheme for caregivers of persons with high support needs.
Delhi’s BJP-led government marked the day with a string of initiatives. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, joined by cabinet colleagues, donated blood at a camp on Kartavya Path. She flagged off the NAMo Sugamya Rath and Sugamya Delhi Yatra, while announcing 7,500 city-wide camps under the Swasth Nari campaign. At the Delhi Assembly, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra inaugurated an exhibition on Modi’s life and leadership, accompanied by a special screening of Chalo Jeeten Hai, a short film on Modi’s childhood.
Other states joined in with their own tributes. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched ‘Swachhotsav-2025’ with prayers at the chardham shrines, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma opened the ‘Namo Exhibition’ at Jaipur’s Jawahar Kala Kendra, highlighting milestones from Modi’s life including Operation Sindoor and the Ram temple’s construction. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated a health check-up and nutrition camp in Kota.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Rs 1 crore will be allocated to municipal councils for developing ‘Namo Parks’. In Tamil Nadu, Governor R N Ravi planted 75 saplings, while in Odisha, the government oversaw the planting of more than one crore saplings. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav participated in plantation and blood donation drives in Rajasthan’s Alwar.
Several mass drives underscored the scale of the celebrations. The Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, an NGO, organised a record-setting blood donation campaign, targeting three lakh units in a single day. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu rolled out the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, the ‘Angikaar-2025’ initiative, PM SVANidhi Yojana 2.0 and a state welfare fair. Beneficiaries of PMAY (Urban) 2.0 received housing permits, while cheques were distributed under PM SVANidhi.
In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced 14,690 health camps over the next fortnight to boost women’s health. In Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP unit organised blood donation drives across the valley.
The Prime Minister’s NaMo app also launched a 15-day digital volunteering initiative, ‘Seva Parv’, inviting citizens to participate in acts of service, track Modi’s life journey and send greetings until Gandhi Jayanti.
