The bodies of four of the 12 Indian nationals killed in a factory explosion at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar have been repatriated to India, officials said on Thursday.
Twelve Indians were among the 13 people killed in the explosion at the Barzan local gas supply facility, operated by QatarEnergy LNG, on Sunday. The remaining victim was a Pakistani national.
In a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Doha said the mortal remains of four Indian victims were being flown to India and that efforts were underway to repatriate the remaining bodies at the earliest.
"The mortal remains of 4 out of 12 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in Ras Laffan incident are being repatriated to India today."

"We hope to repatriate other mortal remains also soon. Embassy has kept the families and authorities informed."
The embassy thanked the Qatari authorities and Indian community organisations for extending support and coordinating the repatriation process.
"We thank the Qatari authorities as well as the Indian community organisations for their support and coordination. Embassy has also been in touch with Indians who are injured in the accident," the embassy said.
The explosion also left 66 people injured, including several Indian nationals.
According to officials, those injured include citizens of Qatar, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria and Nepal.
The Indian mission said it remains in contact with the injured Indians and is coordinating with local authorities to provide all necessary assistance.
