Gujarat entire State was placed under high alert on following bomb threats to the state High Court and two Vadodara schools, leading to an increased police presence and alarm among parents and citizens.
Investigations are ongoing, with special task forces deployed to guard the areas, ensure safety, and track down the source of the threats.
The Gujarat High Court was the subject of a bomb threat once again, prompting an immediate response from local police and emergency services.
Bomb disposal and detection teams, along with sniffer dogs, were dispatched to the building, and a thorough search operation was launched within the court complex. The incident is the latest in a series of recent threats that have disrupted public life and raised concerns about security.
Meanwhile, Vadodara city has been shaken by a second consecutive day of bomb threats targeting schools. On Saturday morning, Refinery English Medium CBSE School received a threatening email stating that a bomb had been planted on the school premises and would detonate shortly.
The message was first sent to the school principal, which was received late on Friday night but it was discovered at 7:35am on Saturday morning as the school opened, immediately triggering a security response.
Police from Jawaharnagar station, the Bomb Squad, and the Pet Squad quickly cordoned off the area. The Vadodara Crime Branch also joined the investigation, reflecting how serious was the situation. As a precautionary measure, all students were safely evacuated and sent home.
Reena Verma, staff at the school, described the anxious moments getting to know about the threat.
“We were instructed by the principal to bring the children outside the school and have them line up, so we took them to a safe location. All the parents were contacted, and they came to collect their children. The children have reached home safely, and a search is currently underway at the school.”
Police confirmed that the threat was issued by someone identifying themselves as "Umar Farooq"—the same name used in a similar email threat received by Navrachana School in the Sama area on Friday.
Authorities suspect the emails were sent using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), making it more difficult to trace the origin.
DCP Zone 1, Zuli Kothia, provided details of the investigation. “A bomb has been planted in Refinery English Medium School, and a threat was received that it will explode. A person named Umar Farooq sent the mail. But the mail was sent through a VPN connection,” she said.
“The same type of threat that was received yesterday at Navrachana School has been received today. An investigation is being carried out to identify who is sending these emails and from where.”
The school's proximity to a refinery belt has added urgency to the matter. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel have been deployed in the area, and fire brigades remain on standby.
Friday’s threat at Navrachana School prompted an extensive three-and-a-half-hour search by bomb squads and dog units.
No suspicious object was found, but the incident marked the second such threat against the school in six months. The recurrence has raised suspicions of an emerging pattern and a potential motive behind the threats.
