In line with the assurance given earlier, the J&K government has provided job to the brother of Syed Adil Shah, the local pony ride operator who got killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today  handed over an appointment letter to the brother of Syed Adil Hussain Shah of Pahalgam, who died while fighting terrorists during a terror attack in the Baisaran area on April 22.

She said that next of kin of Adil has been provided the job letter to honour the sacrifice of the horse ride operator. “His sacrifice will always be remembered,” Andrabi said while speaking to media."He gave his life to protect others .This job letter is a small tribute to his courage .His sacrifice will never be forgotten", Dr Andrabi said.

Nazakat Ahmad, who received the appointment letter expressed gratitude while praising his brother for sacrificing his life to save human lives. I Ma proud of my brother ...he gave his life for the cause of humaity", he said.

The tourists around on the day of terror attack had said this local man was shot while trying to hold  the attacker back.

26 civilians including Adil Hussain were killed on April 22 after terrorists opened fire at a group of tourists in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam. Even though Adil was said to be the sole bread winner for the family, the family of Syed Adil Shah,  said  they are proud of his 'sacrifice' as they mourned his loss.He sacrificed his own life while trying to save innocent tourists, his father said.

Shah, 30, had been guiding visitors on his pony to the scenic meadows near Pahalgam — a lush green expanse surrounded by Himalayan peaks — where terrorists opened fire on tourists, killing 26 people.

On the fateful day, Shah had left home after 3 days of rain the area to take tourists around on his pony as usual but this turned out to be the last day of his life as well as the work he loved.
