A three-storey commercial building collapsed in Delhi’s Rohini area on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a major rescue operation. Authorities fear that several individuals may be trapped beneath the debris.
The incident occurred in Sector 7 of Rohini, where the structure housed multiple commercial establishments. The exact cause of the collapse remains unknown, and officials are currently assessing the extent of the damage. A video from the site shows the immediate aftermath of the collapse, with dust and debris covering the area. According to Senior Technical Officer Paras, preliminary reports suggest a strong possibility that several people could still be buried under the rubble.
The Delhi Fire Service received an emergency call regarding the collapse at around 4:00 pm. In response, four fire tenders were dispatched to the scene and arrived by 4:20 pm to begin rescue operations.
To support the ongoing efforts, the Delhi Police Control Room has requested the deployment of a JCB (excavator) to help clear the wreckage. Meanwhile, the control room of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been alerted and is expected to join the rescue mission shortly. Rescue operations are underway, with authorities working against time to locate and assist any survivors. Further details are awaited as officials continue to investigate the cause of the collapse.
