In a tragic incident in Uttarakhand, five people lost their lives, and 17 others sustained injuries when a bus overturned and fell approximately 100 metres down a hill in Pauri Garhwal district. The incident occurred on Sunday, leaving local authorities and rescue teams scrambling to provide assistance.
The bus was carrying 22 passengers and was travelling from Pauri to Dahalchori when it lost control, causing it to plummet down the hill.
Upon receiving the news of the accident, district officials, along with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police, quickly mobilised and headed to the scene. The SDRF team, led by Arpan Yadav, played a crucial role in coordinating the rescue efforts.
Locals in the area also rushed to the spot to assist with the rescue operation. Together, they managed to pull 18 of the injured individuals from the wreckage and transported them to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Sadly, four passengers were declared dead at the scene, and one more succumbed to their injuries later in hospital.
The injured passengers are currently receiving care at the hospital, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident. The bodies of the deceased were also taken to the hospital for post-mortem and further action.
