The Central government on December 22 notified the appointment of three Senior Advocates as Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) to represent it before the Supreme Court. The names of senior Advocate Davinder Pal Singh, Senior Advocate Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar and Senior Advocate Anil Kaushik have been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on December 22, 2025.
A notification informing of these appointments was issued by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. All appointments will be for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar is a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and former Member of Parliament from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2012. His practice spans a vast array of civil, criminal, and constitutional matters, with a notable speciality in high-stakes litigation involving interstate water disputes and public utility sectors.Throughout his professional tenure, Kumar has been a representative for state and central bodies, serving as Standing Counsel for the Central Government and various Andhra Pradesh bodies.
From 2018 to 2024, Kumar was a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. During this period, he was elevated to the position of Panel Vice Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He was also a part of several high-level committees, including the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law & Justice, and the Consultative Committee on Home Affairs.
Senior Advocate Davinder Pal Singh has been in practice for over 30 years and has actively represented various high-ranking public functionaries in cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA), and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Act, 1992 and the regulations thereunder. He was the Additional Advocate General for the states of Punjab and Haryana.
Currently, he is also the Special Public Prosecutor for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Special Counsel for the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in certain matters. One of the youngest lawyers to be appointed as Additional Advocate General (Haryana and Punjab), he was invited by the office of the Attorney General of the State of California during his tenure to work on cybercrime policy initiatives. He was felicitated by the California State Senate for his contributions to these initiatives.A graduate of Campus Law Centre, where he served as President of the Student Council, he also holds an LL.M. from Kurukshetra University and attended the Hague Academy of International Law.
Senior Advocate Anil Kaushik is a Senior Advocate with over 24 years of extensive practice before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, as well as various other courts and tribunals across Delhi. His practices in a wide spectrum of legal domains, including Civil, Taxation, Revenue, Criminal, Constitutional, and Commercial Law. He notably served as the Additional Advocate General for the State of Haryana. He currently serves as Senior Counsel for both the State of Odisha and the State of Madhya Pradesh.
