A Chennai woman has been arrested by Gujarat police for sending bomb threat emails to two private schools in Ahmedabad, officials said on Saturday.
The emails, which were received last week, stated that bombs had been placed on the school campus and also condemned so-called police inaction in a sexual harassment and dowry case in Hyderabad.
While the threats were later reported to be a hoax, they caused security alerts and interrupted school activities.
Gujarat Cyber Crime police tracked the source of the messages to Saligramam in Chennai.
A team went to the southern city, where, with help from the KK Nagar police station, they arrested the suspect.
Both the woman's house and her father's home at nearby Kodambakkam were searched by the authorities.
The woman was arrested and brought to Gujarat to be further interrogated. Her father was questioned and released later, officials said.
Police have not revealed the motive behind the threats so far. Further investigation is being conducted in the case by Gujarat Cyber Crime officials.
