The government of Chhattisgarh has unveiled proposals to build an Education City in Bilaspur with contemporary educational and recreational infrastructure to cater to thousands of learners, officials added on Saturday.
The project, to be set up on 13 acres of land, is estimated to be priced at ₹100 crore.
The program is part of the state government's agenda to put quality education on top and ensure the development of the students as a whole under the supervision of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, according to an official announcement.
As a part of the infrastructure, there will be a central library called "Nalanda Parisar" that can accommodate 500 students at one time.
Three multi-storey academic blocks with 48 hall setups will also be included in the city. Each setup will have a hall, two rooms, and a toilet so that a maximum of 4,800 students can attend coaching classes together.
The scheme also encompasses the building of a 700-seat new auditorium and hostel to accommodate 1,000 students coming from other districts.
To encourage physical exercise, the campus will be lined with AstroTurf playgrounds and landscaped gardens. A multi-level car park is also planned to cater to the increasing need for parking space, the chief minister added.
The blueprint of the project has already been prepared by the Bilaspur Municipal Corporation, and the construction is likely to take place in the near future.
Bilaspur has become a prominent educational hub since the creation of Chhattisgarh in 2000. It now boasts one central university, two state universities, eight colleges, and more than 100 coaching institutes. These institutions together cater to more than 50,000 students, the statement further mentioned.
