Representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) are set to meet Union Minister JP Nadda after the Centre agreed to hold talks on issues concerning the country's youth.
More than 12,000 youths, despite a police blockade, reached Parliament Street and are protesting while raising slogans against the government. The development was confirmed by CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, who said the organisers would communicate further details about the march shortly.
“We will communicate about the march in some time. All I have to say is that the government is under a lot of pressure, and that itself is a victory," he said.
Delhi Police sealed all routes leading to Parliament and imposed prohibitory orders after more than 8,000 protesters gathered at the protest site.
The march was announced following alleged irregularities in the 2026 NEET examination and gained momentum as protesters demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Ladakh climate activist and Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a fast for the past three weeks, said he would end his fast only after the "Sansad Chalo" march.
He said he would call off the fast if the Centre accepts responsibility for issues such as the paper leak, or if he and CJP leaders are allowed to reach Parliament and receive assurances from Members of Parliament (MPs) that the matter will be raised.
Protesters, largely students and youth, reported excessive use of force by police personnel after a brief scuffle broke out. However, the protest march was allowed to proceed further after it crossed the SBI Building on Sansad Marg.
Police used mild force near Patel Chowk Metro station on Monday to disperse a group of protesters attempting to head towards Jantar Mantar.
