The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a 12-member national team to lead its campaign for the next six months, bringing together professionals from journalism, engineering, law, finance, technology and business.

 

The announcement came days after the group ended its 36-day protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar following the acceptance of its key demands. At a two-day meeting in Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, the CJP unveiled its organisational structure and reiterated that it has no plans to form a political party.

 

CJP founder and national convener Abhijeet Dipke, 30, who holds degrees in journalism and mass communication and public relations, will head the organisation. Ashutosh Ranka, an IIT Kanpur graduate with a master's degree from the London School of Economics, and journalist Saurav Das will serve as co-conveners.

 

Ajinkya Shinde, a B.Tech graduate, has been appointed national organisation in-charge, while Deepak Baliyan, who comes from a farmer's family and has been associated with agrarian movements, will serve as organisation co-in-charge and head of the North Zone.

 

The team also includes Aafreen Nawaz, an entrepreneur with an MBA, who will be the national secretary. Vijay Reddy Mallangi, a civil engineer with a master's degree from Columbia University, has been named media lead and head of the South Zone.

Legal and policy responsibilities have been assigned to Ratna Singh and Vaishnavi Gaur. Singh, an LL.B. graduate, will handle legal affairs, while Gaur, who holds a BA LL.B. degree, will lead research and policy.

 

Rohan Deshpande, a hotel-management graduate, will oversee technology. Chartered accountants Yogesh Ingale and Ankit Bharadwaj will handle finance and regional organisation, with Ingale heading the West Zone and Bharadwaj overseeing the East and North-East Zones.

 

The new structure reflects the CJP's attempt to build a professionally diverse organisation as it moves beyond its street protests and expands its youth-focused campaign across India.

 

The group has said it intends to function as a pressure group rather than enter electoral politics. Its recent agitation began over the NEET-UG paper leak and later expanded to issues concerning unemployment, examination reforms and other concerns affecting young people.

 

The CJP's organisational expansion comes amid efforts to sustain the momentum generated by its Jantar Mantar protest and establish a presence across different regions.
