A cloudburst struck Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district on Friday as heavy rainfall continued to batter the Himalayan state, officials said on Saturday. No loss of life or property has been reported so far.

According to the Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the incident occurred in Sharod Nallah, Sub Tehsil Jari, at 5.35 pm on August 8. “No reports of any loss of life have been received so far. The situation is currently normal,” the DDMA said, as reported by news agency.

Cloudbursts have been reported in several parts of Himachal Pradesh since the onset of the monsoon on June 20.

The state government said 112 people have died in rain-related incidents, while 37 others remain missing. Losses have been estimated at ₹1,988 crore, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

The heavy rains have caused widespread disruption to transportation. As of Friday, 358 roads, including two national highways, were closed in the state.

The affected routes include the Chandigarh–Manali National Highway 21 near Mandi district and the Auto–Sainj road, National Highway 305, near Jahed and Banjar in Kullu district.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across Himachal Pradesh over the next few days.

A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms in three to six districts on Saturday and Sunday. From Monday to Thursday, an orange alert has been issued for some isolated areas.

Light to moderate showers were recorded in several locations. Since Thursday night, Narkanda received 49.5 mm of rainfall, followed by Kufri with 47.5 mm, Nahan with 42.1 mm, Bajaura with 17 mm, Dharamshala with 6.8 mm and Shimla with 6 mm, according to the weather department.
