Gujarat leaders honour Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary.

On the occasion of the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel paid his respects to the iconic leader.

The day, also celebrated as National Youth Day, saw the Chief Minister offering floral tributes to an oil painting of Swami Vivekananda at the podium of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

Alongside him were prominent figures including Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Miraben Patel, Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretary-in-Charge CB Pandya, and several school students who gathered to honour the spiritual leader.

Swami Vivekananda, who continues to inspire millions, is known for his teachings on spirituality, nationalism, and the power of youth. His birth anniversary is marked as a special occasion across the nation, as leaders take a moment to reflect on his life and his vision for the future.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to Swami Vivekananda, praising him as “an eternal inspiration for youth.” In a post on X, the Prime Minister highlighted that Vivekananda's legacy still ignites passion and purpose among young people. He further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling Vivekananda’s vision of a strong and developed India.

While Gujarat marked the day with tributes, the occasion was also celebrated in various parts of India, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attending a National Youth Day event in Lucknow.

In his address, CM Yogi emphasised the importance of balancing one's cultural and spiritual heritage with modern knowledge and science. He quoted Swami Vivekananda’s words, "The bigger the challenge, the more beautiful the victory," urging the youth to draw inspiration from the leader’s teachings. Yogi also stressed the need for better integration of traditional values with contemporary education to guide the youth towards a brighter future.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also marked the occasion with a significant announcement. He revealed that his government would launch the 'Yuva Shakti Mission' across the state on Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.

The mission aims to empower the youth of Madhya Pradesh, with a focus on education and self-reliance. By 2030, the government aims to ensure that all youth in the state complete their education up to the 12th grade.

Moreover, by 2028, the mission intends for 70% of the youth to become self-reliant, thereby contributing to the overall prosperity of the state.

The Yuva Shakti Mission also underscores the importance of educational opportunities for the youth, and CM Yadav highlighted how the government is working towards realising the dreams of young individuals through various initiatives.

As part of the announcement, funds were also released for the 'Ladli Behnas' initiative in Shajapur district, a welfare programme aimed at empowering women in the state.
