Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met the parents of the two engineers who died in the tragic Pune Porsche crash case. He assured them that those responsible for the accident would face strict punishment.

Shinde expressed his condolences to Omprakash Awadhiya, the father of Anish Koshta, and Suresh Koshta, the father of Ashwini Koshta. He stated that the incident was unfortunate and promised severe consequences for the culprits.

In a firm response to the accident, CM Eknath Shinde communicated with the Pune Commissioner of Police, instructing him to take stringent actions against illegal pubs and demolish any structures violating building regulations.

He also directed the police to intensify efforts against drug peddlers to make Pune a drug-free city, according to a press statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

Although the minor accused in the accident has been released, Shinde assured that the case would be reopened and thoroughly investigated. He emphasised that the case would be fast-tracked to ensure justice is served promptly.

In a statement on his ‘X’ handle, Shinde mentioned, "We fully understand the grief caused by the sudden death of one’s young children. So, we decided to provide Rs 10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as a special consideration to the families of their two deceased children.” He reiterated the government's commitment to tracking down all culprits and ensuring they face appropriate punishment.

Youth Sena Secretary Kiran Sali and other relatives of the deceased were present during the meeting. The tragic accident occurred on May 19 at 2.30 am, when a car, allegedly driven by a drunk 17-year-old boy, crashed into the two IT professionals who were travelling on a bike. The investigation revealed attempts by the boy's kin to destroy evidence against him.

On June 21, the Pune district court granted bail to Vishal Agarwal, the father of the accused teenager, who was booked under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

However, the 77-year-old grandfather remains in judicial custody for allegedly pressuring the driver to take responsibility for the crime on behalf of his grandson.
