Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Urges Home Minister Amit Shah to Scrap Rs 13299 Cr CRPF Bill.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting him to completely waive the payment of the total pending dues of ₹13,299.69 cr owed to the Central Government for the deputation of the Central Reserve Police Force to conduct anti-Naxal operations in the state of Jharkhand.

Soren stated that rooting out extremism is a joint responsibility of both the State and Central Governments.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the state government has been focused on economic revival, dealing with disasters and ensuring the successful implementation of various public welfare schemes.

He further said that due to limited resources, the financial burden on the state has increased significantly.

Payment of the pending amount for the deputation of the Central Reserve Police Force would impose a huge financial strain on the state government, which would consequently affect its development schemes.

Soren also noted that Jharkhand has been severely affected by insurgency since its formation.

The state government has been conducting anti-Naxal operations with the help of its own resources and the CRPF.

As a result, there has been a significant reduction in extremist activities in the state. In this campaign, more than 400 police officers and personnel have been martyred while performing their duties in Jharkhand.

Soren has requested that the necessary action be taken to completely waive the retention fee related to the deputation of central paramilitary forces in the Naxal eradication campaign, under the principle of co-operative federalism.

He expressed hope that the people of the state will receive the positive support and co-operation of the Union Home Minister in this regard, and that the state will be better placed to face its economic challenges.
