Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday fired back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent "family politics" jibe, asserting that while the ruling DMK may indeed represent a form of "family rule," its focus remains steadfastly on the welfare of every family in the state.
In an official statement, Stalin countered Modi's criticism, emphasizing that the DMK's approach to governance embodies a commitment to uplift every household in Tamil Nadu.
His response comes amidst a series of barbs exchanged between the two leaders, with Modi recently decrying political dynasties across the country, including in Tamil Nadu.
Challenging Modi's assertion that central funds were directly benefitting Tamil Nadu's citizens, Stalin pointed out that residents affected by recent floods had not received any financial aid from the Centre.
He questioned the Prime Minister's claim that funds were reaching beneficiaries directly and demanded transparency regarding the allocation of relief funds. Highlighting the Tamil Nadu government's proactive response to crises, Stalin noted that despite the lack of central assistance, his administration had allocated substantial state funds amounting to Rs 3,406 crore for flood relief efforts.
This, he emphasized, underscores his government's unwavering dedication to the well-being of Tamil Nadu's populace. To further demonstrate his administration's people-centric approach, Stalin announced the launch of the "Neengal Nalamaa" (Are you doing well) initiative.
This initiative aims to facilitate direct interactions between the Chief Minister, senior officials, and the public regarding the implementation of government welfare schemes. Through a newly launched website, citizens can provide feedback and engage in virtual discussions with government representatives.
During the launch event, Stalin personally interacted with beneficiaries of various state-run programs, reaffirming his commitment to addressing the needs of Tamil Nadu's residents.
The "Neengal Nalamaa" initiative underscores the government's emphasis on accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in delivering essential services to the people.
In essence, Stalin's response to Modi's critique not only defends the DMK's governance principles but also highlights the party's proactive measures to address citizens' concerns.
