Himachal Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, called on the Union Health Minister J P Nadda, on Wednesday, seeking his assistance and urging him to provide additional financial help for the Bulk Drug Park, which is being built in Una.
Meeting Nadda, CM pointed out the drug park’s role in the state's economic development and its potential to generate local employment opportunities.
According to the press release statement, the CM during his meeting with Nadda, also underscored his administration’s commitment to boosting the health sector via improving the infrastructure and services offered to the public.
Sukhu highlighted the importance of modern medical technology in hospitals to reduce the reliance on outside medical care. He also discussed the proposed Bulk Drug Park, which will span 570 hectares and cost an estimated Rs 1,923 crore.
Additionally, Sukhu requested funding to complete infrastructure and pending works at medical colleges in Nahan, Chamba, and Hamirpur. He emphasised the quality of medical education in Himachal Pradesh and sought support for graduating medical students, particularly nurses, to secure placements within India and abroad.
The Union minister responded by assuring Sukhu of all possible assistance from the central government.
