In a recent rally in Haryana's Jind district, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a strong criticism against the Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).
He accused these parties of presiding over an era marked by rampant corruption and exploitation when they were in power in Haryana. According to Adityanath, the situation was so dire that even funds from Hindu temples were misappropriated.
Speaking passionately to the crowd, he stated that both Congress and INLD would often come to the people with slogans, but their actions during their governance told a different story.
He challenged them to reflect on their time in office, emphasising that it was characterised by an "open loot" of resources. This claim was a clear attempt to undermine their credibility and highlight what he sees as their failure to govern responsibly.
Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, also joined the fray, taking aim at Congress's internal conflicts. He pointed out the absence of senior Congress leader Kumari Selja from the ongoing assembly campaign, suggesting that her absence signified deeper issues within the party.
Saini's remarks included allegations that Congress does not genuinely respect Dalit leaders, making a case for why Selja, an influential figure within the party, had been sidelined.
Saini expressed concern over the treatment of Dalit leaders in Congress. He claimed that the party often stifles those who strive to rise within its ranks.
According to him, if Selja aspired to be Chief Minister, there was no justification for her being undermined. He reiterated that Congress is entrenched in nepotism, failing to consider merit or ability when promoting leadership.
In response to these comments, Congress candidate Brijendra Singh from Uchana Kalan assembly constituency dismissed any speculation about Kumari Selja leaving the party.
He argued that such claims were merely a reflection of the BJP's frustration in the lead-up to the elections. Singh emphasised that Selja is a key figure in Congress and would play a crucial role in the party's campaign.
Former Haryana Chief Minister and BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar hinted at the possibility of senior Congress leaders defecting to the BJP, suggesting that the political landscape could change unexpectedly.
When asked about the potential for leaders like Selja and Randeep Singh Surjewala joining the BJP, he noted that while nothing is certain, the political scene is full of possibilities.
As the election date approaches, all eyes are on Haryana, where voting for the 90-member legislative assembly is scheduled for October 5. The political atmosphere is charged, with various parties vying for power amid accusations and counter-accusations. The outcome will not only reflect the people's sentiment but also determine the future trajectory of the state's governance.
The upcoming elections are crucial for Haryana, especially following the backdrop of allegations of corruption and internal strife among opposition parties. With leaders from various parties making bold statements, the campaign promises to be intense.
