India’s Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, met Nepal Army's Lieutenant General Pradeep Jung, ACOAS, on the sidelines of the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries Chiefs' Conclave (UN TCC), being held in New Delhi. The discussions involved joint training, strengthening defence cooperation, promoting collaboration in UN peacekeeping operations, and reflecting the enduring partnership between their armies.
Besides Nepal, the Indian Army Chief also held one-to-one meetings with the top defence leadership of other countries. COAS met Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Chief of the Army Staff, Ghana Armed Forces; Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, Commander Land Forces, Uganda; General Alemshet Degife Balcha, Chief of Land Force & Military Advisor, Ethiopia; Lieutenant General Marek Arkadiusz Sokolowski, General Commander of the Polish Armed Forces; Major General Fadhil Omary Nondo, Land Force Commander, Tanzania; and Major General Jean Claude Niyiburana, Chief of Land Forces, Burundi National Defence Force.
The key focus of these meetings remained on fostering training partnerships and enhancing collaboration in UN peacekeeping endeavours.
The meetings came on the sidelines when New Delhi hosted the UN TCC Chiefs Conclave from October 14 to 16, 2025, bringing together senior military leadership of over 30 nations. During the UN TCC hosted by India, leaders of the armed forces from across the world shared the challenges in the complex evolving global security environment and how countries can strengthen cooperation and carry forward the noble mission of global peace.
COAS General Dwivedi earlier on Tuesday said, "Hosting this conference in India is not only a privilege but also a reaffirmation of our shared determination to strengthen cooperation and carry forward the noble mission of global peace. It also reflects the Indian ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbukam- the word is one family and that of Vishwa Bandhu- India as a friend to all".
Meanwhile, on Thursday, all Chiefs of the participating countries of UN TCC’25 and foreign delegations paid homage at the National War Memorial.
“The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the shared values of duty, valour, and commitment to peace that bind all armed forces across the globe,” the official X handle of the Indian Army wrote in a post.
