Joint Secretary, MEA & Ambassador Designate of India to Vietnam, Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa, met with the Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, on Thursday. In the meeting, discussions were held on different ways to boost defence ties between India and Vietnam.
“Their discussions focused on enhancing India–Vietnam strategic partnership, regional security dynamics and avenues to further strengthen diplomatic & defence cooperation with
#Vietnam through deeper civil & military engagement,” wrote the official handle of the Indian Army in a post on X.
In 1972, official diplomatic ties were formed; meanwhile, in 2000, both countries rekindled the defence cooperation.
