Cold wave conditions continued to affect Delhi NCR, Punjab, and Haryana on Sunday. The minimum temperature in Delhi dropped further, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). By 5:30 pm, Delhi recorded a temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius.
At the Pusa Observatory, the minimum temperature fell to 3.8 degrees Celsius, a drop of 5 degrees. Narela recorded 5 degrees Celsius.
The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the 'poor' category on Sunday, with pollution worsening further. Along with the cold, Delhi continues to face pollution problems.
Cold wave in Punjab and Haryana
In Punjab, Gurdaspur and Bathinda recorded minimum temperatures of 2 degrees Celsius and 4.6 degrees Celsius, respectively. Pathankot experienced 3.5 degrees Celsius, while Amritsar shivered at 3.9 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana logged 6.8 degrees Celsius, and Patiala recorded 3.8 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, Hisar faced a chilling 1.7 degrees Celsius, while Narnaul recorded 3 degrees Celsius. Bhiwani saw a low of 4 degrees Celsius, Gurugram logged 5.6 degrees Celsius, Rohtak registered 5.2 degrees, and Ambala recorded 5.7 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh, the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
The cold wave is likely to persist, with temperatures in Delhi expected to stay below 5 degrees Celsius. Foggy conditions are also expected as the mercury continues to drop in the coming days.
