LPG cylinder rates reduced in major Indian cities.

State-run oil marketing companies have reduced commercial LPG cylinder prices across major metropolitan cities, providing minor relief to businesses starting from Saturday.

According to the latest revision by the oil marketing companies (OMCs), the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 1,590.50 in Delhi, marking a reduction of Rs 5 from the previous rate of Rs 1,595.50.

Kolkata recorded the highest price drop among metros, with a decrease of Rs 6.50 per cylinder, bringing the new rate to Rs 1,694. In Chennai, the revised price stands at Rs 1,750, down by Rs 4.50, while in Mumbai, it now costs Rs 1,542 following a Rs 5 reduction.

The revision offers slight relief to thousands of small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in sectors such as restaurants, hotels, and catering services, which rely heavily on LPG for daily operations. The cut follows a Rs 15.50 hike introduced late in September.

Domestic LPG prices, however, remain unchanged across all cities.

Earlier in September, OMCs had reduced the price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 51.50, bringing the cost of a 19-kg cylinder in Delhi to Rs 1,580. Prior to that, prices had been cut by Rs 33.50 and Rs 58.50 in earlier revisions.

In June, oil firms had announced a Rs 24 reduction for commercial cylinders, setting the rate at Rs 1,723.50. In April, the price stood at Rs 1,762, while February saw a Rs 7 cut that was partially reversed in March with a Rs 6 increase.

Meanwhile, the Centre had announced plans to provide 2.5 million free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during the festival season, aimed at expanding access to clean cooking fuel for low-income households.
