Police reported that five individuals had been apprehended following the discovery of condoms, gutkha, and stones purportedly concealed within samosas provided to a prominent automobile company in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune.
The accused are Rahim Shaikh, Azhar Shaikh, Mazhar Shaikh, Firoz Shaikh, and Vicky Shaikh.
Authorities stated that among the individuals facing charges are two employees of a subcontracting company tasked with supplying the samosas and three partners of another firm whose contract had been terminated previously due to adulteration concerns in their snacks.
"Out of the five accused, the three partners had allegedly planted the other two workers to ensure the firm that had gotten the fresh contract would get defamed," police said.
According to the police, Catalyst Service Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was tasked with supplying snacks to the automobile company's canteen. However, Catalyst Service had subcontracted the provision of samosas to another firm named Manohar Enterprise.
"During the investigation on Sunday, after Manohar Enterprises' staffers were questioned over the incident, it was found that two workers, identified as Firoz Shaikh and Vicky Shaikh, had allegedly stuffed condoms, gutka and stones in the samosas," the police said.
During interrogation, it came to light that employees from SRA Enterprises, whose contracts had been terminated previously due to adulteration, had dispatched two of their workers to Manohar Enterprises with the intention of adulterating the food supplied to the company, thereby tarnishing the reputation of Manohar Enterprise.
The police have registered a case under IPC sections 328 (causing harm by means of poison) and 120B (criminal conspiracy), they further stated.
