Jharkhand Congress to Hold Statewide Constitution Rallies.

The Jharkhand unit of the Congress party has announced plans to launch a 40-day ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ or ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign across the state, beginning towards the end of April.

The initiative is aimed at raising awareness among citizens about the importance of social, political and economic justice, as enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

The decision was taken during an executive committee meeting held in Ranchi, which was presided over by the state Congress in-charge, K Raju. Addressing reporters after the meeting, Raju said that a mega rally will be held in the state capital before April 30 to mark the formal beginning of the campaign.

He further shared that a series of public rallies will be held at various levels—including district, division, and assembly constituencies—as part of the outreach programme.

The party intends to highlight what it perceives as serious threats to the constitutional framework under the current BJP-led central government.

Raju alleged that the BJP is systematically attempting to weaken democratic institutions by misusing investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate to suppress opposition leaders.

He described the actions of the central government as part of a well-thought-out strategy to silence dissent and erode constitutional safeguards.

Former Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur elaborated on the structure of the campaign. He said district-level rallies will take place between 3 May and 10 May, followed by rallies in assembly segments from 11 May to 17 May.

These public meetings will seek to mobilise support and spread awareness about the alleged attacks on constitutional institutions.

Thakur also announced that the party will launch a door-to-door campaign from 20 May to 30 May, during which Congress workers will engage directly with residents to explain how, in their view, the Constitution is under threat.

He specifically pointed to the independence of the judiciary, the role of the Chief Justice of India, and the functioning of the Election Commission as areas of concern.

According to Thakur, the campaign aims to expose what the party sees as coordinated efforts to undermine democratic values and erode the spirit of the Constitution.

He emphasised that the Congress party is committed to fighting back against these challenges and will do everything possible to preserve the foundational principles of the republic.
