Additionally, an all-party meeting will be held at 11:00 am today at the Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe in New Delhi. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju will convene a meeting with the floor leaders of political parties in both houses of Parliament, as stated in a press release by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
The Congress party will be represented by the deputy leader in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, and the deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, who will attend the all-party meeting on Sunday. The Budget Session of Parliament is set to commence on July 22 and, subject to the demands of Government Business, may conclude on August 12.
In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Congress fought as part of the INDIA bloc with other parties and successfully prevented the BJP from securing a majority on its own in Lok Sabha. The BJP-led NDA won 293 seats in the polls.
Specifically, in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP secured 240 seats, while Congress saw a significant improvement, winning 99 seats. Although the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 293 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, providing strong competition and defying predictions.
