Congress leader Rahul Gandhi began his three-day visit to the US, arriving in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, where he was warmly welcomed by members of the Indian diaspora and the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC).

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commenced his three-day visit to the United States on Sunday, arriving in Dallas, Texas. He was warmly received by members of the Indian diaspora and the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC).

Gandhi took to social media to share photos of his welcome, expressing his delight. “I am truly delighted by the warm welcome I’ve received in Dallas, Texas, USA, from the Indian Diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress,” he wrote. “I eagerly look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and insightful conversations that will further strengthen the bond between our two nations during this visit.”

This trip marks Gandhi's first visit to the US since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He will be in Dallas, Texas, on 8 September and in Washington, DC, from 9-10 September.

IOC chief Sam Pitroda had earlier announced Gandhi’s visit, noting the enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora, including NRI residents, technocrats, business leaders, students, media representatives, and political figures.

“There are lots of events planned with a variety of people because they also have an interest in the states where Congress party runs governments, particularly the tech cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune. We see great interest in conversations with the business and technological community,” Pitroda said.

Pitroda also mentioned receiving numerous inquiries about Gandhi’s US visit, which prompted him to share a video message to inform about the highly anticipated trip.

He concluded by expressing optimism about the success of the visit, stating, “We look forward to a very successful visit and welcoming Rahul Gandhi to the US.”

Political analysts expect Gandhi’s visit to generate significant media attention and potentially stir controversy back home. Following the 2024 Lok Sabha results, Gandhi has gained momentum and support with his views on various public issues.

He won elections from two Lok Sabha constituencies, Rae Bareli and Wayanad, but opted to retain the former and leave the latter for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi.

In June, he was appointed Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha by the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
