Two police constables sustained injuries when a speeding SUV, allegedly driven by the son of a Congress MLA, nearly rammed into them in Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur district, an official said on Tuesday.
Alirajpur Superintendent of Police Rajesh Vyas said a case under section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against Pushpraj Patel, son of Congress MLA Sena Patel, in connection with the incident.
The constables were on patrol near a bus stand in the district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when the SUV, allegedly driven by Pushpraj Patel, sped towards them, Vyas told PTI.
He said both policemen sustained injuries in the incident.
Another official said that a video clip of the episode, which surfaced on social media on Monday, shows the SUV speeding directly towards the two constables standing beside a police jeep. They managed to leap out of the way just in time to save themselves.
