The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday opposed the bail plea of an accused in the NEET paper leak case, telling a Delhi court that she circulated leaked question papers to students in exchange for money.
The submission was made before Special Judge Ajay Gupta during the hearing of the bail application filed by Manisha Sanjay Waghmare. The court reserved its order on the plea for June 9.
Opposing the application, the CBI told the court that Waghmare provided students with questions from physics, chemistry and biology papers and received monetary consideration in return.
“We have statements from students that they paid money in exchange for the leaked papers. Waghmare circulated the question papers,” the prosecutor submitted.
Seeking bail, Waghmare's counsel argued that the 47-year-old was a certified education counsellor and had not engaged in any illegal activity. The defence contended that no cash was recovered from her premises, no incriminating material was found in her two seized mobile phones, and that she suffers from medical conditions, including vertigo.

Waghmare was arrested on May 14 and is currently in judicial custody.
According to the CBI, Waghmare, who runs a beauty parlour in Pune, allegedly received the leaked question papers from purported kingpin P V Kulkarni and passed them on to co-accused Dhananjay Lokhande and others.
The agency alleged that Kulkarni conducted special coaching classes for students at his residence in Pune and mobilised candidates with Waghmare's assistance.
The CBI further claimed that Waghmare destroyed the leaked papers after the examination was conducted on May 3.
So far, the agency has arrested 13 people in connection with the case, all of whom remain in judicial custody.
The case relates to alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, conducted on May 3 for admissions to medical colleges. Amid allegations of a paper leak, the National Testing Agency cancelled the examination on May 12 and scheduled a re-examination for June 21.
