ED To Respond To Rouse Avenue Court Notice on AAP Leader Satyendar Jain's Bail Plea.

Former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has submitted a new bail plea in connection with a money laundering case. On Thursday, he was presented before the Rouse Avenue Court following the end of his judicial custody.

Special CBI Judge Rakesh Syal issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), seeking their response to Jain's plea. The court is set to hear the bail application on September 25, while the main case has been scheduled for a hearing on October 5.

Satyendar Jain's lawyer, Advocate Vivek Jain, represented him during the proceedings. Jain was arrested by the ED in May 2022 on charges of money laundering.

His legal team is arguing that, as per the Supreme Court's directions, an accused cannot be detained indefinitely while awaiting trial. Jain's default bail plea is currently pending before the Delhi High Court.

This is not the first time Jain has sought bail. His previous regular bail and interim bail pleas were dismissed by the trial court. However, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail on health grounds, allowing him temporary relief. Jain’s recent bail application is another attempt to secure release while his trial remains ongoing.

The ED arrested Satyendar Jain on May 30, 2022, in connection with the money laundering investigation. Following a detailed interrogation, Jain was placed under judicial custody. Since then, his legal battle for bail has continued as the case progresses.

Jain's legal defence emphasises that the delay in trial should not result in his continued incarceration. His team also cites his health concerns as a factor, which previously led the Supreme Court to grant temporary relief.

As the ED prepares its response, the upcoming hearings will be crucial in determining whether Satyendar Jain will remain in custody or secure bail as the case proceeds.

The money laundering charges against Jain stem from allegations of illicit financial transactions. His arrest marked a significant moment, given his prominent role as Delhi's health minister.

The case is closely watched, not only because of Jain’s political stature but also due to its implications for broader corruption and legal accountability in public office.
