CRPF women to traverse high altitude terrains of Ladakh on bike

It was a momentous occasion for CRPF today when a  remarkable all-women bike expedition was flagged off by the DG GP Singh amid enthusiasm of the participants from historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar today. The dare devil expedition will reach Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh and return to Srinagar on October 1.

It was a momentous occasion for CRPF today when a  remarkable all-women bike expedition was flagged off by the DG GP Singh amid enthusiasm of the participants from historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar today. The dare devil expedition will reach Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh and return to Srinagar on October 1.

 

The nine-day rally, covering approximately 1,400 kilometers has 32 women personnel from the CRPF’s elite “Daredevils” bike riding unit and it will traverse challenging high-altitude terrains. marking a significant moment for the force. ”This expedition symbolizes women breaking barriers and conquering challenging terrains,” said a senior CRPF officer, highlighting the event’s significance in showcasing the resilience and capability of women.The bikers carried the National Flag with the Force’s message to the Nation, ‘Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak’.


The event is part of a series of exclusive Mahila Bike Expeditions launched by the CRPF to instill a sense of pride and test the physical and mental endurance of its women personnel.The CRPF, with its 3.25 lakh personnel, is the largest paramilitary force in the world and plays a key role in dealing with internal security challenges, including Left Wing Extremism, terrorism in the Kashmir Valley and insurgency in the northeastern states.

 

The first expedition was held in March 2023 from Delhi to Jagdalpur, followed by the second in September 2023, covering routes from Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari to Kevadia.Talking to reporters after the flag-off, DG CRPF said, “I congratulate everyone that they are going on this high-altitude motorcycle expedition from this historical place of Kashmir. “I would like to thank the people of Kashmir for their support,” he added. The women participants will travel from Srinagar to Pangong Lake and return from there.


The expedition will run from September 23 to October 1, traversing some of the toughest terrains of Ladakh and Kashmir. The participants were excited to be part of the expedition.“We are looking forward to the expedition. Our objective will be to travel safely,” said a female participant.
