Political row ends as Delhi tableau gets approval for parade.

The Delhi tableau has been selected for display at the Republic Day Parade, with a theme focused on "quality education." This marks a turn of events after its initial rejection sparked a wave of controversy.

The tableau will showcase the remarkable transformation of government schools in the national capital, highlighting modern classrooms, dedicated teachers, and enthusiastic students.

This development comes just weeks after the rejection caused a political stir, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accusing the central government of unfair treatment.

The controversy began when the Ministry of Defence (MoD) initially excluded the Delhi tableau from the selection process for the Republic Day Parade.

Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister, strongly criticised the move, claiming that the advancements in Delhi’s education system under his government deserved recognition on such an important platform.

Kejriwal alleged that the decision was politically motivated and part of a broader pattern of bias against the Delhi government.

In response to the accusations, the MoD defended its decision, stating that the selection process was transparent and conducted by an expert committee.

The ministry emphasised that the committee's evaluation was impartial, highlighting that proposals from several other states, including those governed by opposition parties, had been accepted without issue.

Despite the initial rejection, sources indicated that the Delhi tableau was reconsidered, leading to its inclusion in the final selection for the Republic Day Parade.

At a Press Preview held at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp in Delhi, the tableau was unveiled, with its central theme celebrating Delhi’s model of quality education.

It depicted scenes of modern classrooms, the dedication of teachers, and the enthusiasm of students, offering a visual testament to the educational reforms in Delhi’s government schools.

On January 26, the Delhi tableau will be among the 30 featured on Kartavya Path as part of the Republic Day parade. Along with 16 tableaux from states and union territories, and 10 from various ministries and departments, the Delhi tableau will represent the national capital’s efforts to reshape education.

The parade will celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage, technological achievements, and government initiatives aimed at progress and development.

This turn of events highlights the ongoing tension between Delhi’s AAP government and the central authorities.

While the Delhi government views the recognition of its education reforms as a proud achievement, the political undercurrent surrounding this tableau’s selection serves as a reminder of the complex relationship between the two.
