Defence Ministry grants ₹100 cr for Sainik School in Assam

The Defence Ministry has sanctioned ₹100 crore for constructing a new Sainik School in Karbi Anglong, Assam. The school, to be built at Langvoku, is part of an overall ₹335.87 crore allocation. Assam leaders welcomed the move, highlighting its role in fostering quality education and discipline.

The Defence Ministry has sanctioned ₹100 crore for the construction of a new Sainik School in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, a development widely welcomed by state leaders.

 

The institution will be established at Langvoku in Karbi Anglong and is part of a broader allocation of ₹335.87 crore set aside for Sainik Schools.

 

The sanctioned amount has been released as grants-in-aid for the financial year 2024-25, aimed at bolstering the infrastructure of these institutions dedicated to discipline-focused education.

 

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu expressed his appreciation for the Defence Ministry’s decision and extended his gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

 

Taking to social media platform X, he stated, “Heartfelt gratitude to @DefenceMinIndia for sanctioning ₹100 Cr for the construction of a Sainik School at Langvoku, Karbi Anglong. This will greatly enhance quality education and discipline among our students. Special thanks to Hon'ble RM @rajnathsingh ji for the support! This amount is released out of a total allocation of ₹335.87 crores.”

 

 

Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Numal Momin also welcomed the development, highlighting the significance of Assam receiving its second Sainik School. In a post on X, he remarked, “A proud moment! Assam’s 2nd Sainik School to be built in Langvoku, 108th Bokajan (S.T.) LAC. Grateful to leaders for this milestone in education & empowerment! #Assam @PMOIndia @CMOfficeAssam.”

Meanwhile, in a separate engagement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday attended the centenary celebrations of the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama and the inauguration of the newly constructed Universal Temple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsadeva in Silchar, Cachar district.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister spotlighted the lasting influence of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s teachings. 

 

“Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa not only enriched our Sanatana civilisation but also provided timeless wisdom to the world at large,” he remarked.

 

On the occasion, Sarma extended his greetings to Swami Ganadhishananda, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, and others associated with the institution.

 

He further announced that the State Government would allocate ₹5 crore to the hospital of the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama (Ma Sarada Charitable Dispensary) and ₹4 crore to clear outstanding debts incurred during the construction of the Universal Temple in Silchar.
