The Ministry of Defence on Sunday announced a nationwide essay competition centered on Operation Sindoor, which will be held from June 1 to June 30. The contest, open to participants in both Hindi and English, is being conducted in collaboration with MyGov India.
In a post on X, the ministry stated that the top three winners will each receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 and gain a special opportunity to attend the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi.
Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7 as a targeted military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 individuals. The operation aimed to eliminate nine terror infrastructures located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. All subsequent retaliatory strikes following Pakistani aggression have since been carried out under this operation.
The Narendra Modi-led government has hailed Operation Sindoor as a turning point in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, declaring it as the establishment of a "new red line" and a "new normal" in India’s response to terrorism, especially cross-border threats.
“Ministry of Defence invites young minds to make their voices heard! Participate in the MoD & @mygovindia bilingual essay contest on #OperationSindoor – Redefining India’s Policy Against #Terrorism,” the ministry posted on X. The announcement included a poster with further contest details and the official Operation Sindoor logo. Participants are allowed only one entry, which can be submitted in either Hindi or English.
