Delhi Assembly adopts NeVA for paperless governance.

The Delhi Assembly has taken a significant step towards a more sustainable and efficient legislative process by signing a tripartite agreement with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the Delhi government to implement the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).

The agreement was formalised in the presence of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.

With this move, the Delhi Assembly has become the 28th legislature in the country to embrace the NeVA platform, which aims to streamline legislative procedures through digitisation.

The agreement was signed by Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ranjeet Singh, Secretary of the Delhi Assembly, and Reetesh Singh, Principal Secretary (Law) in the Delhi government.

The transition to the NeVA platform is expected to bring greater efficiency, transparency, and accessibility to the legislative process. By going paperless, the Assembly seeks to reduce its reliance on physical documents, minimise paper consumption, and create a more eco-friendly work environment.

The platform will also provide real-time access to legislative documents and facilitate smoother communication among members.

Minister Rijiju expressed his satisfaction with the initiative, emphasising that the adoption of NeVA would not only speed up the Assembly's work but also empower legislators with advanced digital tools.

The move aligns with the government's broader vision of promoting digital governance and enhancing public access to legislative processes.

The Delhi Assembly's decision to adopt the NeVA platform reflects its commitment to a more modern and efficient approach to governance, setting an example for other legislative bodies across the country.
