The recent explosion near a school in Rohini has sparked a political row between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva criticised AAP leaders, accusing them of exploiting sensitive issues for political gain. He expressed disappointment at how AAP was allegedly playing “dirty politics” over the incident.
Sachdeva praised the efforts of the Delhi Police, emphasising its strong record in solving crimes. He stated that the police have successfully cracked most of the cases in recent months and expressed confidence that they would swiftly resolve this case as well.
Sachdeva urged political parties to avoid commenting prematurely and allow the police to complete their investigations. Additionally, he called on authorities to bolster security in markets ahead of the upcoming festive season to ensure public safety.
The explosion, which occurred in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini on Sunday morning, caused damage to vehicles and property in the vicinity. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The incident, however, has heightened concerns about public safety and law enforcement in the capital.
In response to the incident, AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, blamed the BJP-led central government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
Atishi argued that the responsibility for maintaining law and order rests with the BJP, which controls Delhi’s policing. She alleged that the BJP was more focused on obstructing the work of the elected government in Delhi rather than addressing crime in the city.
According to Atishi, the current state of law and order in Delhi is reminiscent of the 1990s Mumbai underworld era, where criminal activities were rampant.
She further pointed out that incidents of open gunfire, gang-related extortion, and emboldened criminals have become a worrying trend in Delhi. Atishi accused the BJP of lacking both the intention and the capability to manage these issues effectively.
She also warned that if the BJP were to take charge of the Delhi government, the state of essential public services such as schools, hospitals, electricity, and water supply would suffer the same neglect as the current law and order situation.
Atishi’s remarks reflect AAP’s growing frustration with the BJP’s control over law enforcement in Delhi, despite AAP’s electoral mandate. This ongoing tussle between the two parties over governance in Delhi continues to intensify, with both sides regularly trading accusations over various issues.
The situation in Rohini has not only raised concerns about safety but also highlighted the larger political battle between the two major parties. While the Delhi Police are working to identify the culprits behind the explosion, the incident has already sparked a wider debate about crime, governance, and political accountability in the nation’s capital.
The BJP has consistently defended its position, arguing that law enforcement is being carried out efficiently and that AAP’s accusations are politically motivated. On the other hand, AAP claims that the BJP is failing in its duty to ensure the safety of Delhi’s citizens, instead focusing its energy on political battles.
As investigations continue, both parties are expected to maintain their positions, with AAP highlighting what it sees as governance failures and BJP focusing on the efficiency of law enforcement under its leadership. The incident is likely to remain a focal point in the political landscape of Delhi, especially as both parties prepare for upcoming elections.
