Parvesh Verma Emerges as Top Contender for Delhi CM.

The political landscape in Delhi is abuzz with speculation as the oath-taking ceremony for the new Chief Minister is set to take place on February 20 at 4.30 pm, following an important BJP legislature meeting.

This marks a significant development after the BJP's impressive victory in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections, where the party secured 48 seats in the 70-member assembly. This win has ended a 27-year hiatus for the BJP in the Delhi legislature.

Sources have indicated that the BJP has shortlisted 15 names out of the 48 legislators who won in the elections. Among these, nine individuals are being considered for key positions, including the Chief Minister, state cabinet ministers, and the Speaker.

The final selection will be made after thorough discussions and consideration of each candidate's strengths and political standing.

The BJP's success came at the expense of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was only able to secure 22 seats in the assembly.

Senior AAP leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, who were once considered strongholds of the party, lost their respective constituencies in this election.

Despite their success, the BJP did not announce a Chief Ministerial candidate ahead of the elections, opting to wait until after the results were declared.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return from the US, the party has been holding high-profile meetings to decide who will lead the government. The process has sparked much anticipation, with several names emerging as frontrunners for the role.

One of the most talked-about figures is Parvesh Verma, who achieved a significant victory by defeating AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the highly contested New Delhi seat. His performance has earned him the moniker of "giant killer," and many see him as a strong contender for the Chief Minister's post.

However, when asked about the possibility of him becoming Delhi's Chief Minister, Verma remained humble, stating that he would "happily" accept whatever decision the party high command made.

His calm and spiritual demeanor shows that he is not overly eager for the position, but willing to serve if the party chooses him.

Other potential candidates for the role of Chief Minister include Vijender Gupta, a former Delhi BJP chief, and Satish Upadhyay, a senior BJP leader with a strong Brahmin following. Both are well-known figures in the party, and their leadership experience makes them strong contenders.

Additionally, Ashish Sood, the General Secretary of Delhi BJP, is being considered for the position due to his prominence within the Punjabi community. Another key figure, Jitendra Mahajan, who enjoys a good rapport with the RSS, is also being discussed as a potential candidate.
