Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Rekha Gupta took charge as the ninth Chief Minister of Delhi at her Secretariat office here on Thursday and asserted that every commitment made to the people will be fulfilled by her government.
Earlier in the day, the first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh was administered oath as the chief minister by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena in a grand ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan. Her Council of Ministers were also sworn in.
With this, the BJP marks its return to power in Delhi after 26 years, having last governed the capital from 1993 to 1998.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP's top brass, including Union ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Rajnath Singh, and the chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of several NDA-ruled states, attended the ceremony.
Later, Gupta reached the Delhi Secretariat to take charge as the chief minister of Delhi.
As part of Chief Minister Gupta's council of ministers — Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Raviraj Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh — also took oaths.
Gupta unveiled her Cabinet, assigning key portfolios to six newly-inducted ministers.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta – Home, finance, services, vigilance, and planning.
Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Verma – Education, public works department (pwd), and transport.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa – Health, urban development, and industries.
Ravindra Kumar Indraj – Social welfare, SC/ST affairs, and labour.
Kapil Mishra – Water, tourism, and culture.
Ashish Sood – Revenue, environment, and food & civil supplies.
Pankaj Kumar Singh – Law, legislative affairs, and housing.
The BJP secured a resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly polls held on February 5, winning 48 out of 70 seats and ending the decade-long rule of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party.
